Key figures

Charlotte Devaux - Heir of the Devaux Dynasty Main heiress associated with the house.

Origin and history

Le logis de la Chesnaie-Archenon is a historic house located in Longué-Jumelles, in the department of Maine-et-Loire (Pays de la Loire). This monument is distinguished by its composite architecture: the south building, with a staircase tower, dates back to the 15th century, while the north wing, in return, dates from the first half of the 16th century. 18th-century discounts and an extension of the 19th century complete the whole, illustrating its evolution throughout the eras.

The property is associated with the Devaux dynasty, whose principal heiress mentioned is Charlotte Devaux, a prominent figure in this lineage. Although the details of his exact role remain limited, his name is linked to the history of the house. The façades and roofs of the monument were inscribed in historical monuments by order of 29 July 1986, thereby recognizing its heritage value.

The site reflects the architectural transformations typical of the noble houses of Anjou, where defensive elements inherited from the Middle Ages (like the turret) and Renaissance enlargements are mixed. Its listing as historical monuments makes it a protected witness to this regional heritage, although its access to the public or current uses are not specified in the available sources.
