Origin and history
Le Logis de la Touche is a former noble house built in the commune of La Limouzinière, in the Loire-Atlantique department, in the Pays de la Loire region. This monument, dated the 4th quarter of the 14th century and the 1st quarter of the 15th century, is a medieval vestige marked by its defensive architecture and its history linked to the local aristocracy. It consists of a medieval house-gate, to which was joined in the sixteenth century a gallery-race on arcades, only remains of a larger castral ensemble.
The mansion was built in the 15th century for the family Du Chaffault, a high-ranking line. Although partially in ruins today, the site preserves protected elements, including the house-door, fence walls, an old park on terraces, and traces of a destroyed castle overlooking the Logne River. These remains bear witness to its past importance and its integration into a castral landscape typical of the region.
Ranked under the title of historical monuments by order of 10 September 1996, the house of La Touche includes in its protection parcels constituting its historical whole, such as the inner courtyard, the gardens of the chapel, and old alleys. Its registration underscores its heritage value, despite its current state of degradation.
