Origin and history
Le Logis des Éperons is a private hotel located at 2 rue des Éperons in Laval, Mayenne department. Built in the 15th century, it underwent major changes in the 16th and 18th centuries. Its architecture combines elements in stone and stone cut from limestone, especially for bays, cornice and corner chains. This building, with a living area of about 300 m2, bears witness to the evolution of architectural styles throughout the centuries.
The family of La Porte de Laval, one of the notable families in the region, occupied this home during the reign of Henri IV. Later, the Malin family was the last known occupying family. The monument has been listed as a historical monument since February 10, 1987, especially for its large woodwork salon. A walk on the ramparts offers an extensive view of the city of Laval, adding to its heritage attraction.
The Éperons house illustrates the urban history of Laval, with architectural modifications reflecting the tastes and needs of successive eras. The limestone openings, taken over in the 18th century and restored in the 20th century, show constant attention to the preservation of this heritage. Today, there remains a remarkable example of the aristocratic habitat of the Vallois, mixing medieval heritage and Renaissance influences.
