Origin and history

The Pellevoisin railway station is a former French railway station, integrated into the Salbris au Blanc line, specifically on the Luçay-le-Mâle-Argy section. Built in the characteristic "White-Silver" style, it consists of a passenger building, an adjoining freight hall and a lamp factory. Its commissioning probably dates back to 1902, shortly after the opening of the line between Écueillé and Le Blanc on 17 November of that year. The station, located 136 metres above sea level, was a strategic point between the stations of Heugnes and Juscop.

The station ceased its passenger activity on 26 September 1980, with the passage of the last railcar on the Luçay-le-Mâle section in Buzançais, and its merchandise service was closed on 31 December 1988. Despite these closures, the line between Luçay-le-Mâle and Argy was listed as historical monuments on 18 January 1993, thus preserving facades, roofs, docks, and double mushroom tracks. In 1995, the rights-of-way were acquired by an intermunicipal union, allowing the resumption of railway operations in 2005 in the form of a tourist line, the Train du Bas-Berry.

Today, the Pellevoisin station is a seasonal stop on this tourist line, equipped with three lanes and docks accessible by a platform. It embodies the rural industrial and rail heritage of the early twentieth century, while offering a tourist experience linked to local history. Its partial inscription to historical monuments also covers elements such as the well and the platform, highlighting its architectural and historical importance.

The station is managed by the Société pour l'Animation du Blanc Argent (SABA), which promotes this railway heritage. Its architectural style and its role in the secondary network of the Blanc-Argent make this a valuable testimony of the regional transports of the past, today reinvested for tourism and collective memory.
