Origin and history

The house at 1 Place du Centre in Guingamp is a 17th-century civil building. This building, typical of the Breton architecture of that time, is distinguished by its door, the only protected element inscribed under the title of Historical Monuments by order of 2 December 1926. Its exact address, intersected between the Merimée bases and GPS coordinates, the square at the corner of Notre Dame Street and Edward Ollivro Street, in the historic centre of Guingamp.

Guingamp, a town in the Côtes d'Armor region of Brittany, was at this time a dynamic town, marked by artisanal and commercial activities. The bourgeois or notable houses, like this one, often reflected the social status of their owners, while serving as a framework for daily life and local exchanges. The entry of the door suggests a heritage value related to its style or state of conservation, although the available sources do not specify the exact criteria for this protection.

Current data from Monumentum and the Merimée archives indicate an approximate location (level 5/10 in precision) and a lack of information on openness to the public. No mention is made of any specific contemporary use (visit, accommodation, etc.), nor of historical characters associated with this place. The Creative Commons license of the photo, however, attests to a documentary interest in this heritage.
