Origin and history
The house located at 22 Boulevard de la Cité in Limoges is a 17th century civil building, the entrance door of which is the most remarkable element. This door, now integrated into a hotel, features a basket handle arch decorated with a doucin, resting on ground frames. The key to the vault, carved in salient volute, and the ironwork impossibility highlight the artisanal know-how of the time. The whole frame a wooden door with neat mouldings, typical of the bourgeois domestic architecture of this period.
Ranked a Historical Monument by decree of 27 September 1946, this gate (cadastral reference EH 43) illustrates the importance attached to preserving the architectural details of the 17th century in Limousin. Although the exact address experienced minor variations in the sources (20 or 22 Boulevard de la Cité), the building remains a testament to the urban heritage of Limoges, marked by a central historical location.
The accuracy of its geographical location is estimated as fair (note 5/10), perhaps reflecting urban adjustments over the centuries. Available data from the Merimée database and Monumentum confirm its anchoring in the Haute-Vienne department (code Insee 87085) in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. No information is provided on its current accessibility or contemporary uses beyond its integration into a hotel.
