Origin and history

The house is part of a collection of medieval facades dating from the 14th century, located on the Place de Beaumontois in Périgord. These houses, characteristic of the civil architecture of the period, form a preserved alignment on the north side of the square, where some still keep balconies. Their layout reflects medieval urban planning, with houses attached to the old ramparts, such as those on the west side whose garden walls are based on these fortifications.

In the 18th century, most roofs were rebuilt, marking a stylistic evolution while preserving the original structure. On the south side of the square, only one house retained its horn and pointed roof, emblematic elements of medieval architecture. These houses, whose facade and roof have been protected since 1952, illustrate the transition between the Middle Ages and the modern era in this Perigord region.

The ensemble, inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 17 May 1952, concentrates on the Place des Cornières, today located in Beaumont-du-Périgord (comune of Beaumontois in Périgord). Their protection relates specifically to the facade on the square and the corresponding roof, highlighting their heritage value. The location, although documented, remains approximate, with an accuracy assessed as fair (note 5/10).
