Origin and history
The house Mingat, located in Chalamont in the department of Ain, is a typical 15th century construction, designed with wooden panels. It illustrates the medieval civil architecture of the region, with a facade inscribed with historical monuments in 1927. Originally, it was located on Rue de l'Hôpital, later renamed Rue des Halles, and also overlooks Rue Bellecour. Its location corresponds to Parcel 211 of the local cadastre.
In 1927, the house was occupied by Captain Mingat when his partial inscription (facade only) as historical monuments. Later, in 1971, she housed Joseph Levrat. Available sources, such as Wikipedia and Monumentum, confirm its status as a protected monument and its precise location, although details of its historical use or possible transformations remain limited.
The Mingat house is part of the architectural heritage of the Dombes, an area marked by wooden constructions during the Middle Ages. These dwellings, often for local artisans or notables, reflect the construction techniques and lifestyle of the urban populations of the time. Their preservation offers a material testimony of 15th century architectural and social practices in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
