Maison Bordes: by order of 10 November 1930

Origin and history

Bordes House, located in the medieval village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, is a remarkable example of 14th century civil architecture. This building is distinguished by its wooden panels structure with brick filling, and a marked corbellation on each floor. The facade rests on an oak lintel, initially supported by a central pole, while the lateral and posterior walls are constructed in visible rubble. Access to the first floor is via a stone staircase backed by the south-west facade, leading to a door topped by a third-point arch.

Ranked a Historical Monument by decree of November 10, 1930, Bordes House illustrates medieval construction techniques in Occitanie. Its corbellation, carried by superimposed and ground soles, bears witness to a craftsmanship typical of the region. The location of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, a village perched by the Lot, reinforces its heritage interest, in a context where half-timbered houses played a central role in urban and commercial life.

Protected elements include the entire structure, with its unique architectural features. Although the practical information on his visit or current use is not specified, his classification underlines his historical importance. The Bordes house is thus part of the preserved medieval landscape of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, now recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in France.
