Origin and history

The House Calary, classified as a Historic Monument, is distinguished by its hybrid architecture of the 15th and 16th centuries. It features a square, cut-pan turret with a screw staircase, typical of the late Middle Ages, as well as a 15th century entrance door decorated with a pediment and shell cross. These medieval elements contrast with the Renaissance additions, as a large cross with pilasters and spears, reflecting the evolution of architectural styles during this pivotal period.

The building has been partially protected since 1949, with an inscription specifically covering the tower and the Renaissance cross (cadastre AK 131). The precise location, at 12 rue Sainte-Catherine and 15 boulevard Saint-Rodolphe-de-Turenne in Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne (Corrèze), places this monument in the heart of a historic village marked by its religious and civil heritage. Available sources, such as Monumentum and Merimée data, highlight its heritage interest, although the accuracy of its location is considered poor (level 5/10).

No information is provided on contemporary uses of the building (visits, accommodation, etc.), or on any sponsors or historical occupants. The analysis is therefore limited to architectural features and legal protection, without additional biographical or contextual elements. The associated photograph, under the Creative Commons license (credit: Father Igor), visually documents these particularities, but without providing additional historical details.
