Arcade: registration by decree of 14 June 1928
Origin and history
The house at 4 Albert I Street in La Rochelle is a historic monument consisting of two buildings separated by a courtyard and connected by a wing housing a wooden staircase. Its stone façade, organized in three spans, and staircase date from the 18th century. The nearby houses are lined with arcade porches, typical of local architecture.
The arcade of this house was listed as a historic monument by decree of 14 June 1928, highlighting its heritage interest. The location, although specified in the Merimée database, is considered to be of poor accuracy (note 5/10). The building, representative of the 18th century urban habitat, illustrates the architectural evolution of La Rochelle, then dynamic port of the Atlantic facade.
No information is available about its opening to the public, its possible current functions (rent, visit) or its historic owners. Sources are limited to Monumentum data and Merimée archives, without mentioning anecdotes or characters related to this place.
