Origin and history
The house at 7 rue du Mining in La Rochelle is a 17th and 18th century civil building, representative of the urban architecture of this period. It is distinguished by its depth, with an inner courtyard at the back, and a two-storey structure surmounted by an additional height. The side corridor and wooden staircases, turning and openworked, are located at the centre of the plot, with a difference in width between those serving the ground floor/first floor and those leading to the second floor.
The facade has an engraved date (1815), although the construction dates back to the previous centuries. The arcade of the house was listed as a Historic Monument by order of 27 June 1928, highlighting its heritage interest. The location, noted as "passable" (5/10) in the databases, corresponds to the historic address of Rue du Mining, in the department of Charente-Maritime (New Aquitaine).
No information is available on the original owners, precise uses over the centuries, or possible major transformations outside the 1815 mention. The sources (Monumentum, Merimée base) do not specify whether the building is open to the public, rented for events, or converted into guest rooms.
