Arcade: registration by order of 27 June 1928
Origin and history
The house at 22 rue du Mining in La Rochelle is a monument whose history is partially documented. It is distinguished by its arcade, the only protected element, inscribed in the inventory of Historical Monuments by order of 27 June 1928. This official recognition underscores its architectural or heritage interest, although details of its construction or historical occupants remain unknown to date.
La Rochelle, the major port town of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region (formerly Poitou-Charentes), has had a history marked by maritime trade, cultural exchanges and a typical architecture, mixing medieval and classical influences. Old houses, like the one on Rue du Mining, often bear witness to this rich heritage, integrated into a dense urban fabric. Their preservation, even partial, allows us to preserve the memory of the artisanal, commercial or residential activities that animated these neighborhoods in the past.
