Covered gallery: inscription by order of 25 June 1929

Origin and history

The Clerc House is part of a remarkable architectural ensemble of Mirepoix, known as the Cutlery. These covered gallery houses, typical of medieval and post-medieval urbanism, form a sheltered passage for pedestrians. Their wooden and stone structure reflects the traditional construction techniques of the region, adapted to the commercial and social needs of the time.

The inclusion of the covered gallery of the Clerc House in the inventory of Historical Monuments by order of 25 June 1929 underlines its heritage importance. This type of architecture, common in the merchant towns of the South-West, served both as a protected traffic space and a place for economic exchange. Today, these Cutlery bear witness to urban organization and daily life in Mirepoix throughout the centuries.

The location of the Maison Clerc at 11 Rue Jacques Fournier places the monument in the heart of the historic centre of Mirepoix. Although the geographical data available are considered to be of poor accuracy (level 5/10), its official address and integration into the old urban fabric make it a key element of local heritage. No information is available on its current accessibility or contemporary uses (visits, accommodation, etc.).
