Origin and history

The house Creuzot, located in Dijon in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, is an emblematic building built in 1866 by architect Creusot. It served as a residence and workshop for the sculptor Frédéric Creuzot (1832-1896), whose facade was built in 1865 and decorated between 1871 and 1881. The dates of 1866 and 1886, engraved on the facades, mark key milestones in its architectural history.

The complex consists of two buildings lined with rectangular plan. The main building, on three levels, features a roof terrace with balustrade, while its façade is entirely covered with Renaissance sculptures. At the bottom of the plot, a series of workshops complete the whole. The left side of the façade and its corresponding roof have been classified as historical monuments since 1975.

Frédéric Creuzot, renowned sculptor, marked the history of this place by living and working there. His architectural and decorative work reflects his talent and artistic inspiration, combining the reborn tradition and modernity of the 19th century. The Creuzot House thus bears witness to the cultural effervescence of the Dijonnaise period.

Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, highlight the heritage importance of this monument, located at 62 rue de Longvic. Its partial inscription in historical monuments in 1975 reinforces its historical and artistic value, while preserving part of the architectural heritage of Dijon.
