Origin and history

The house of the Rodde is a historic residence located in Blesle, in the Haute-Loire department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Built in the 17th century, it was thoroughly redesigned at the end of the 18th century, especially in terms of its structure, roofs and interior decorations. This type of house illustrates the architecture of the affluent families of the village at that time, with neat interior elements such as woodwork and stone fireplaces.

Inside, the house retains a remarkable set of woodwork and fireplaces dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The outbuildings, located on the garden side, include a wooden gallery that served as a hemp attic, reflecting local agricultural activities. These architectural and functional features reflect the way of life of the provincial elites of the Old Regime.

The house of La Rodde was listed as historical monuments by order of 24 November 2003. This protection covers not only the main building, but also its commons, garden, fence and decorated interiors. Among the protected elements are a staircase with its vestibule, rooms such as the kitchen, the music salon, and a frame dating from 1787, marked by a shield. This classification underscores the heritage value of this residence, representative of bourgeois habitat in Auvergne.
