Origin and history

The house of Pierre Paulin, located in the Gard department in Saint-Roman-de-Codières, is part of the domain of Calmette. This site was registered as Historic Monuments by order of 18 October 2018. The inscription specifically covers the facades and roofs of the farm, as well as the sheepfold, the house and the spaces arranged around, spread over several cadastral plots (C 541 to 548 and 572). These architectural and landscape elements testify to a coherent set, preserved for its heritage interest.

The estate, located in the Occitanie region (formerly Languedoc-Roussillon), is identified by its official address: Domaine de la Calmette, 30440 Saint-Roman-de-Codières. Although available sources (Monumentum) do not specify its current use, the protected elements suggest a vocation both agricultural (farm, sheepfold) and residential. The GPS location, considered "passable" (note 5/10), allows to situate the monument in a rural setting characteristic of the Gardese Cevennes.

The 2018 inscription underscores the heritage value of the estate, without the sources detailing its previous history or its connection to Pierre Paulin, a renowned 20th century designer. The lack of data on the construction period or historical owners limits the understanding of its evolution. The site could reflect local rural architecture, marked by traditional materials and integration into the Cevenol landscape.
