Fronts and roofs (Box B 516p): inscription by decree of 15 December 1972
Origin and history
The Maison des Échevins de Loudun is a historic monument located in the town of Loudun, New Aquitaine. Dating from the 15th and 17th centuries, this building bears witness to the civil architecture of these periods, with characteristic elements of the urban buildings of the period. Its facades and roofs, listed in the inventory of Historic Monuments by decree of 15 December 1972, illustrate the heritage importance of this building to the municipality.
The location of Maison des Échevins at 10 rue Housse-Galand is documented in the Mérimée base, although GPS coordinates suggest an approximate address on Rue Basse du Rempart. This monument, owned by the municipality of Loudun, is associated with the administrative and social history of the city, reflecting the role of the aldermen in local management during the Ancien Régime.
Available data from Monumentum and internal archives indicate that the accuracy of the location is considered fair (note 5/10). Although the building is now closed to visit, its status as a Historic Monument and its protected elements make it a point of interest for the study of the architectural heritage of the Poitou-Charentes region, now integrated into New Aquitaine.
