Origin and history

This medieval house, located in Beaumontois in Périgord (Dordogne), dates from the 14th century and is part of the urban history of the bastide founded in the late 13th or early 14th century. It is part of a set of houses built on the site of the medieval rampart, testifying to the defensive and residential organization of the period. Its gable discovered on the posterior elevation and its facades on the Luzier rampart and door, protected since 1952, illustrate local architectural techniques.

Subsequent transformations changed its original appearance, but its integration into the defensive system of the bastide remains visible. The house thus reflects the urban evolution of Beaumont-du-Périgord, where civilian dwellings were mixed with military structures. Its classification as Historic Monument underlines its heritage importance in the medieval landscape of the Périgord.

The approximate location, noted as "passable" (level 5/10), corresponds to the address 4 Rue Porte de Luziers, in the historic district of Sainte-Sabine. Sources, such as Monumentum and the Merimée base, confirm its status as a key element of the local built heritage, linked to the foundation of the bastide and its role in medieval community life.
