Covered gallery: inscription by order of 25 June 1929

Origin and history

The Dubie House is part of an iconic architectural ensemble of Mirepoix, known as Les Couverts. These houses with covered galleries, typical of medieval and post-medieval urbanism, form a characteristic alignment of the city centre. Their corbelling structure and wooden or stone arcades reflect local construction techniques as well as the commercial and residential needs of the time.

The inclusion of the covered gallery of Dubie House in the inventory of Historical Monuments by order of 25 June 1929 underlines its heritage importance. This classification protects an architectural element representative of the ancient building of Mirepoix, a city whose urban fabric has been marked by historical fires and successive reconstructions. The Cutlery, as a semi-public space, played a central role in social and economic life, sheltering artisans, merchants and inhabitants.

The location of Dubie House, specified at 14 Place Maréchal Leclerc, confirms its anchoring in the historic heart of Mirepoix. The Insee code of the municipality (09194) and its attachment to the Ariège department (Occitanie region) place this monument in a rich territorial context, where the medieval heritage coexists with more recent influences. Map accuracy, assessed as poor (note 5/10), calls for further investigations to refine knowledge of this heritage.
