Origin and history

Maison Ébaudy de Rochetaillé, also known as Maison Cousin, is a private hotel located 4/6 rue Salengro in the Old Vesoul district of Vesoul (Haute-Saône). Built around 1781 near the former Jesuit College, it embodies the civil architecture of the late 18th century. This monument, still owned by the same family since 1797, was renovated in the 19th century to preserve its historic character.

The house is closely linked to Vincent Ébaudy de Rochetaillé, MP and local figure, who made it his residence. Its inscription in historical monuments by decree of 6 September 1996 underlines its heritage importance. The house is distinguished by its location at the end of the old town, near the remains of the medieval urban enclosure, and by its architecture typical of the bourgeois houses of the period.

Today, the Ébaudy house in Rochetaillé remains a testimony of Vesoul's urban history. Its classification covers the entire building (Cadastre B 424), including outstanding facades and interior elements. Although the information on its current vocation (visits, private use) is limited, its protected status makes it a key element of the heritage of the Haute-Saône and Burgundy-Franche-Comté.
