Origin and history
The Maison Guiraud, located in Eysines, finds its origins in the late Middle Ages, probably as the former noble house of Bois Salut. This building, marked by a stairway tower with out-of-work screws, illustrates the late Gothic style with flowered cabbage decorations and a door decorated with an angel. These elements, still visible today, bear witness to its historical importance as early as the fourteenth century.
In the 17th century, the house underwent a first major overhaul with the addition of a wing, partially modifying its initial structure. The transformations continued in the 19th century, integrating new architectural elements while preserving old parts. These successive developments reflect the adaptation of the building to the needs and tastes of the eras crossed.
Classified as a Historical Monument by order of 16 March 1988, the Maison Guiraud is protected in its entirety, including its facades, roofs, and screw stairs. Although owned by a private company, its registration underscores its heritage value, mixing medieval heritage and later additions. Its address, 61 avenue de la Libération in Eysines, makes it an emblematic local landmark of regional architectural history.
