House (Case D 1091): entry by order of 1 April 1993

Origin and history

The house in Villaudric, in the department of Haute-Garonne in the Occitan region, is a typical example of the 18th century architecture of the Laos. This type of construction is characterized by a single floor, a division of rooms on both sides of a central corridor, and a facade on street with a carriageway door. The complex is closed by an enclosure surrounded by dovecote towers, emblematic elements of the farms and affluent houses of the region at that time.

The interior of the house is distinguished by a high quality decor, including stucco, panelling and woodwork, reflecting the care given to the beautification of the prosperous bourgeois or rural houses of Lauragais. These decorative elements, often inspired by the artistic trends of the time, testify to the social status of its occupants and their desire to display a certain material ease.

Classified as a Historical Monument, this house was registered by order of 1 April 1993, thus recognizing its heritage value. Its exact address, 2 rue de l'Aucenelle in Villaudric, is referenced in the Mérimée base, and its location is considered satisfactory a priori. Although the information on its current use (visit, rental, guest rooms) is not specified, its protected status makes it an important testimony to the traditional occitan habitat.
