Origin and history
Motey-Besuche House, listed as a Historic Monument, is a typical example of 18th century rural architecture. Located in an enclosure, it includes functional buildings such as a stable, a barn, apartments on a cellar and a kitchen with a large stone fireplace. These elements, although common, reflect the constructive practices and lifestyle of the Burgundy countryside of this period.
The few decorations on the whole show a certain economic ease, compatible with the image of a prosperous local peasantry. This type of farm, with its courtyards and fences, was at the heart of the agricultural and social life of the villages of Franche-Comté. The listing of Historic Monuments in 2012 highlights its heritage interest as a witness to this vernacular heritage.
The exact address, route from Chancey to Motey-Besuche (Haute-Saône), and its INSEE code (70374) place it in a territory marked by a strong rural tradition. The accuracy of its geographical location is estimated to be fair (note 5/10), while its protection covers the entire house, including its annexes, courtyards and fences, under the cadastral reference B 743.
