Facades and roofs (cad. AB 62): classification by decree of 12 August 1936

Origin and history

La Maison Lacrone is a historic monument located in the heart of Mont-Saint-Michel, Normandy. This building, whose facades and roofs were classified by decree of 12 August 1936, is part of the exceptional architectural landscape of this emblematic town, known for its abbey and its preserved medieval character. Although little precise information is available on its specific history, its ranking shows its heritage importance in an urban complex marked by centuries of religious and military history.

Mont-Saint-Michel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has long been a major pilgrimage site and strategic fortress. Houses such as the Lacrone House, integrated into the dense urban fabric of the city, often served as homes for pilgrims, monks or artisans. Their preservation makes it possible today to understand the social and economic organization of local life in the Middle Ages, in a context where the religious and the military dominated the region.

These buildings contribute to the authenticity of a site where each stone tells part of Norman history.
