Origin and history

Le Ribeault House, located in Saint-Brieuc, is a rare example of a wood panel construction that has retained its original layout, including on the ground floor. Its structural elements, such as sandstones, windows and consoles, are apparent and richly carved, offering a precious testimony of medieval civil architecture or local Renaissance.

Protection of this monument was undertaken in two stages: the roof was registered by arrest on 8 December 1927, while the façade was classified on 14 February 1930. These measures underline its heritage importance, particularly for its exceptional state of conservation and its architectural details, such as mouldings and ornamental sculptures.

Although its official address is Place au Lin, GPS coordinates suggest a location near Fardel Street. This geographical ambiguity, coupled with a locational accuracy considered poor (note of 5/10), reflects the challenges sometimes encountered in documentation of historic monuments in dense urban areas.
