Origin and history

The house located at 54 Cours Léopold in Nancy is a historic monument registered since 2001. It illustrates the domestic architecture of the early twentieth century, marked by refined decorative elements such as glass windows. The latter, including one decorated with honeysuckle motifs, are the work of the painter-glassman Jacques Gruber, a notable figure of the École de Nancy, an artistic movement emblematic of the region.

The building is distinguished by three protected elements: the veranda with its windows, the zenithal window illuminating the staircase, and a north window on the ground floor. These components reflect the influence of Art Nouveau, dominant current in Lorraine at this time. The precise location, although noted as "passable" (level 5/10), corresponds to the official address recorded in the Merimée database.

The house is part of the heritage of Benin, marked by a fusion between local tradition and artistic innovations. Its registration as a Historic Monuments underscores its heritage value, particularly related to the heritage of the Nancy School. No information is available on its current access (visits, rentals, etc.).
