Origin and history
The Penissart House, located in Saint-Aignan in the Loir-et-Cher, is an emblematic 16th century building. According to local tradition, it would have belonged to the Great Veneur d'Orléans, although this attribution is not formally attested. Its street façade, classified as Historic Monument since 1946, is distinguished by two windows on the first floor, one of which is framed with pilasters surmounted by sculpted capitals typical of the Renaissance. These architectural elements, along with an old wooden exterior staircase still visible in the courtyard, testify to its historic character.
Inside, the house preserves two fireplaces on the ground floor dating from the Louis XV period, probably decorated with paintings framed with haze. These later additions illustrate the transformations of the building over the centuries. The precise address, 20 rue Rouget-de-Lisle, and its partial inscription (façade only) underline its heritage importance, although its GPS location is considered satisfactory a priori without further precision.
The monument, although protected, does not have up-to-date information on its accessibility to the public, whether it be visits, room rental or accommodation. Available sources (Monumentum, Mérimée base) are limited to architectural and historical descriptions, without details of its contemporary use or recent conservation.
