Origin and history

The Rubat House is a house located in the commune of Chevagny-les-Chevrières, in Saône-et-Loire, Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. Built in the 18th century, it is a typical example of the civil architecture of this period in this rural area, marked by characteristic facades and covers, including remarkable chimney strains.

The house has been recognized for its heritage value since the early twentieth century. It was first listed as historical monuments by order of 28 February 1927, before being partially classified by decree of 6 November 1929. This classification applies specifically to fronts, blankets and chimney stumps, while the rest of the house (excluding classified parts) is protected by the initial inscription.

Located at 32 rue du Château, this house illustrates the local built heritage, in a department rich in historical monuments. Its state of conservation and its legal status make it an important testimony of the architectural history of Burgundy of the eighteenth century, although the available archives do not mention any specific characters or events related to its construction or its occupants.
