Origin and history
The house located on Rue du Souvenir in Cruguel, Morbihan, is a civil building dating from the 2nd quarter of the 17th century, as evidenced by the date 1645 engraved above its entrance door. With an elongated rectangular plane, it is distinguished by a screw staircase housed in a slightly prominent turret at the back. Its south facade, pierced by two rows of bolts (pigeonholes), overlooks the village's central square, reflecting its role in local community life.
Classified as a Historic Monument in 1996 for its facades and roofs, this house underwent renovations after 1973, including covering (probably replacing an original stubble roof) and two rear windows. The western chimney strain, rebuilt after 1973, preserves larmies evoking this old plant roof. A medieval to the west, it illustrates the 17th century Breton domestic architecture, combining functionality and discreet decorative elements.
The inscription in the title of Historic Monuments in 1996 (Decree of 25 January) specifically protects its facades and roofs, highlighting its heritage interest. The cadastre identifies the property under reference AB 10. Although modified in the 20th century, the house preserves traces of its initial use, such as the bolts, typical of rural buildings intended for breeding or storage.
The location, 13 Place du Souvenir, confirms its anchoring in the historic heart of Cruguel, village of Morbihan (code Insee 56051). Available sources (Monumentum, Merimée base) specify a satisfactory geographical location (note 6/10), without details of its current access (visit, accommodation).
