House of the 15th century, excluding the part in parpaings of the posterior facade (Box AE 53): inscription by order of 3 January 1989

Origin and history

The Louhans Road House in Beaufort is a building located in the municipality of Flacey-en-Bresse, Saône-et-Loire, Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. Dating from the 15th century, it represents an example of late medieval civil architecture, typical of the Burgundy rural houses of that time. Its inscription as historical monuments, effective since 3 January 1989, specifically protects the original structure, excluding later additions such as the parpaing part of the rear façade.

The house is located on the road linking Louhans to Beaufort, a historic road of the Burgundy Bresse. This type of building, often linked to local farming or artisanal activity, illustrates the way of life of rural populations in the late Middle Ages. The region, marked by an agro-pastoral economy, saw these houses serve both as a home and a place of work for peasant families or small landowners.

The inscription of the house as a historic monument underscores its heritage interest, particularly for its state of conservation and its architectural authenticity. Protected elements include the 15th century main structure, while subsequent modifications (such as parpaing extensions) are excluded from this protection. The property now belongs to the municipality of Flacey-en-Bresse, although its current use (visit, rental, etc.) is not specified in the available sources.
