Portal and part of the facade with wrought iron balcony that surmounts it: inscription by decree of 25 November 1946

Origin and history

The house at 4 rue du Tripot in Arras is a 18th-century civil building. It is representative of the urban architecture of this period, marked by ornamental details such as wrought iron balconies. Although little precise information is available on its history, its portal and part of its façade were protected by a registration order in 1946, demonstrating their heritage value.

Arras, the city of Pas-de-Calais in the Hauts-de-France region, was in the 18th century a dynamic economic and cultural centre, marked by trade and crafts. The bourgeois houses of that time often reflected the prosperity of their owners, with careful decorative elements. This type of building, although apparently modest, played a role in the urban fabric by sheltering wealthy families or local business activities.

The partial protection of this house in 1946 is part of a broader desire to preserve the French architectural heritage after the destruction of world wars.
