Origin and history

Brigemont Manor House, located in Rémalard en Perche in the department of Orne, is an emblematic 16th century building. This small rectangular building is distinguished by a wing perpendicular to the rear, connected by a semi-engaged stair tower. Its main façade, pierced by typical Renaissance sill windows, reflects the artistic influence of the time. Inside, a large vaulted room in a cradle, adorned with prominent diaphragm arches and an imposing stone chimney, bears witness to the architectural refinement of the period.

The remarkable elements of the mansion, including facades, roofs, screw staircases and vaulted corridors, were inscribed in the historical monuments by decree of 2 November 1979. This classification also protects the large ground floor room and two chimneys on the floor, highlighting their heritage value. The vault of the hall, decorated with geometric motifs between the arches, illustrates the attention paid to interior ornamentation, characteristic of the seigneurial houses of the Renaissance.

Located 2.8 km northeast of the church of Saint-Germain-d'Auxerre de Rémalard, the manor house is part of the historical landscape of Perche, an area marked by a rich architectural heritage. Its plan and its stylistic details, such as sledges and moulures, make it a representative example of the rural manors built during this period of prosperity for the local nobility. The accuracy of its location (GPS coordinates and Mérimée address) confirms its territorial anchoring in the new town of Rémalard en Perche.
