Origin and history
Hallennes-lez-Haubourdin Manor House is a historic monument in the commune of the same name, in the department of Nord (59), in the Hauts-de-France region. This building is distinguished by its characteristic facades and roofs, notably those of the two sprocket-step buildings, as well as by a stair turret. These architectural elements were protected by an Registration Order dated August 1, 1975, highlighting their heritage value.
Such manor houses, often built between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, generally served as residences for wealthy families or local lords. In northern France, these buildings often reflected the social status of their owners and played a role in the economic and agricultural organization of the surrounding territories. Their architecture, sometimes combining defensive and residential elements, bears witness to the social and technical changes of their time.
Hallennes-lez-Haubourdin Manor House is located at 85 Rue Léon Gambetta, according to the GPS coordinates available. Although information on its exact origin or detailed history is limited in current sources, its registration as Historic Monuments in 1975 confirms its heritage importance. The accuracy of its location is estimated to be "a priori satisfactory", which facilitates its identification in the local urban landscape.
