Origin and history
The Mansion de la Vigne is an emblematic 16th century building located in Matignon, in the Côtes-d'Armor department, Brittany. This monument is distinguished by its architecture composed of a large rectangular body, completed by a square turret to the north. Originally, its structure had a marked symmetry, with a central door framed with two spans of windows on each floor, but only the eastern span and the door remain today.
The manor house was partially listed as historic monuments on 2 February 1976, a protection specifically covering the manor house facades and roofs as well as those of two adjacent farm buildings. These architectural elements reflect the style and construction techniques of the Breton Renaissance, while illustrating the evolution of the residential and agricultural spaces of the time.
Open to the public only in summer (from 1 July to 18 August 2023, outside Sundays and 14 July), the mansion offers free tours of its exteriors, while the interior remains private. This limited accessibility preserves its historical character while providing an overview of this local heritage. The location of the site, although documented (5028 La Vigne, Matignon), is considered to be of poor accuracy according to available sources.
