Origin and history

Mornay-Villarceaux Manor House, located in Omerville in Val-d'Oise, is a 16th-century building. This monument, classified among the Historical Monuments, illustrates the civil architecture of the French Renaissance. Its listing in the inventory of Historic Monuments by order of 2 May 1927 bears witness to its recognized heritage value.

The location of the mansion, at 2 Place Saint-Martin in Omerville, is considered satisfactory (note of 8/10 for accuracy). The building, now known as the former mansion of Mornay-Villarceaux, retains architectural elements characteristic of its time. No additional information on its history or occupants is available from the sources consulted.

Val-d'Oise, where Omerville is located, was in the Renaissance a region marked by a rural economy and an influential local nobility. The mansions of this period often served as secondary residences for the aristocracy or the rising bourgeoisie, while playing a role in the administration of the surrounding lands. Their presence also reflected the social and architectural transformations of the era, with an increased search for comfort and representation.
