Origin and history

Vaumorin Manor House, located in Chançay (Indre-et-Loire), is a 16th-century building listed as a historical monument on March 6, 1980. Former fief depending on the seigneury of Amboise, it consists of a rectangular building body flanked by a truncated tower made of horse iron. The south facade features a door decorated with pilasters and vegetal motifs, surmounted by a triangular pediment where a coat of arms disappeared. Inside, traces of a missing vault remain in the tower, while a partial fresco adorns one of the three stone chimneys. A stone staircase completes the architectural ensemble.

The mansion was surrounded by agricultural buildings, forming a courtyard closed by a wall pierced by a door. Protected elements include facades, roofs and fireplaces, including one on the ground floor and two on the first floor. The building illustrates the noble rural architecture of the Renaissance in Touraine, combining residential and agricultural functions. Its listing in 1980 underscores its heritage value, although its current state of conservation and accessibility are not specified in the sources.

The location of the mansion, at approximately 147 Vaumorin in Chançay, is documented by the Mérimée and INSEE bases, which connects it to the department of Indre-et-Loire (Centre-Val de Loire region). No information is available on its openness to the public, its tourist vocation or any modern amenities.
