Origin and history
The Girouette mansion, located in the commune of Loye-sur-Arnon in the Centre-Val de Loire region, is a typical example of a 17th century rural unit. This monument, still well preserved, illustrates the agricultural organization of the period, integrating both the seigneurial house and the buildings dedicated to agricultural and domestic activities. Together, lined with walls, includes stables, a sheepfold, stables, barns, as well as dedicated spaces such as a bakery and a vegetable garden, reflecting an almost total autonomy.
Ranked a Historic Monument, the Girouette manor house saw its facades and roofs of the main house body protected by order of 1 October 1974. This protection highlights its characteristic architecture and its role in the French rural heritage. The location of the site, although documented (1 Rue des Girouettes), suffers from a geographical accuracy deemed poor (note 5/10), according to the available data. There is no information on its current accessibility (visits, accommodation or events).
The architectural complex forms an agricultural microcosm of the Great Century, where the living spaces of owners, staff and animals coexisted. The interior courtyards and vegetable gardens, still visible, reflect a functional and hierarchical design, typical of the rural areas of this period. Available sources (Monumentum, Merimée base) do not, however, mention the original owners or the major evolutions of the site after the 17th century.
