Origin and history
The Ster Manor is a building located in Cléden-Poher, in the Finistère department in Brittany. Its construction probably dates back to the early 16th century, although it may be a reconstruction of an older building dating back to the late 14th century. The architectural ensemble underwent major changes in the 17th and 20th centuries, while preserving original elements such as fragments of 16th century murals in the upstairs rooms.
The house body, occupying the east side of the courtyard, is the oldest and best preserved part. These frescoes, typical of the Breton Renaissance, bear witness to the decorative importance attached to this type of seigneurial residence. The mansion thus illustrates the architectural evolution of noble residences in Brittany between the late Middle Ages and the modern era.
The Ster Manor House was partially listed as historical monuments by order of 2 February 2009. This protection specifically concerns the main house body, excluding other dependencies. The building remains a representative example of the Breton manors of the early 16th century, despite its subsequent transformations.
The precise location of the mansion is at 393 Maner Ster in Cléden-Poher, in a rural environment characteristic of Finistère centre. Its state of conservation and its successive developments reflect the functional and aesthetic adaptations of Breton seigneurial residences over centuries.
The available sources (Wikipedia, Monumentum) highlight its heritage interest, particularly for its interior decorations and its architectural plan. Although the archives do not mention any specific historical characters related to this mansion, its recent inscription among the protected monuments in 2009 confirms its historical and artistic value.
