Origin and history

The manor house of Plounerin, also known as the Keraëz manor house, is located in the municipality of the same name in Brittany. Located on Rue de l'Église in the Côtes-d'Armor department, this 17th century building illustrates the civil architecture of modern times. Its gate, gable and scalable, characteristic of Breton seigneurial houses, were protected in 1926.

The building was partially listed as historic monuments by order of 31 March 1926. This protection specifically concerns three architectural elements: the entrance gate, the gable and the scald, the latter being a corbelled turret typical of the manors of the region. The official notice of the Ministry of Culture (base Merimée PA00089505) and local sources such as Monumentum confirm this dating and protection.

Plounerin, a rural commune of Côtes-d'Armor, was at this time marked by a mainly agricultural economy. Manor houses such as Keraëz served as residences for local noble or bourgeois families, often playing a central role in the social and economic organization of the territory. Their architecture reflected both the status of their owners and regional stylistic influences.

No information is available about the original owners of the manor house or the specific historical events that would have taken place there. Sources are limited to architectural descriptions and mention of heritage protection. The precise location, 5 rue de l'Église, is attested by official bases like Mérimée.
