Manoir de Saint-Paterne (former): by order of 11 January 1921

Origin and history

The Manor House of Saint-Paterne, located in Pontpoint (Oise, Hauts-de-France region), is a 14th-century building. It was classified as a Historic Monument by order of 11 January 1921, attesting to its heritage importance. Although the available sources do not specify its original use, its architecture reflects the characteristics of the seigneurial or agricultural dwellings of this period in Picardia.

In the 14th century, the Pontpoint region, then in Picardy, was marked by a rural and artisanal economy. Manor houses such as Saint-Paterne often served as administrative or agricultural centres for local lords. Their presence illustrates the feudal organization of society, where these buildings played a key role in managing the surrounding lands and resources.

The preservation of this type of monument allows today to study medieval lifestyles and construction techniques.
