Origin and history
The two menhirs of Lampaul Huellan, called Prat-Tuntauren and Prat-Rous-Cerch, are located in Trémargat, in the Côtes-d'Armor department, Brittany. These megalithic monuments were erected in a marshy bottom, 21 metres apart on a north-south axis, in the flow of a spring. Both are granite, with distinct dimensions: Prat-Tuntauren is 2.55 m high, while Prat-Rous-Cerch is 2.80 m high.
These menhirs were classified as historical monuments by order of 18 January 1968. Their precise location is indicated as being in Lampoul Huellan, in the territory of the commune of Trémargat. Their presence in a humid environment and their alignment suggest a symbolic or ritual meaning, typical of the megalithic constructions of this region.
Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, confirm their status as a protected monument and their membership of the Breton megalithic heritage. Their study has been documented in specialized books, such as Les megalithes de l'arrondissement de Guingamp de Loïc Langouët, published in 2006, which mentions them as remarkable elements of the local archaeological landscape.
