Origin and history
Menou-Glas Menhir is a megalithic vestige located in Landebaëron, in the Côtes-d'Armor department, Brittany. Dated from the Neolithic, this monument is presented in the form of a slab of local granite, light and laminated in two micas. Its dimensions are 1.70 m high, 1.65 m wide and 0.90 m thick. It is located about 300 metres south of Ros-Vras covered driveway, at the top of a slope.
Menou-Glas Menhir was registered as a historical monument by order of 28 July 1969. This official protection underscores its heritage and archaeological importance. The monument is referenced in the base Mérimée under the code INSEE 22095, corresponding to the municipality of Landebaëron. Its precise location is reported near Kerlogan, although GPS location is considered to be of poor accuracy (level 5/10).
This menhir is part of a broader set of megalithic sites in the Côtes-d'Armor, a region rich in prehistoric remains. It is cited in specialized books, such as Les megalithes de l'arrondissement de Guingamp (2006) de Loïc Langouët, which briefly describes it on page 37. The monument is also associated with online resources, such as portals dedicated to megalithism and French historical monuments.
