The entire strong house, the old cellars, the remains of the old enclosure and the plot AB 324: inscription by order of 10 December 2014
Origin and history
Mieudry's stronghold, located in Boussy in Haute-Savoie, is a rare example of a stronghold preserved in this area. Its architecture reflects a double influence: that of a medieval castral building, dated from the 13th century, and that of a transformation into a residence of bourgeois resort in the 19th century. This monument thus bears witness to the successive adaptations of the same place throughout the epochs, mixing defensive, agricultural and residential functions.
The 19th century modernization campaigns have profoundly marked the present aspect of the strong house, while preserving traces of earlier periods, visible in both the plan and the elevations. The ensemble includes a master house, a nearby chapel, as well as buildings dedicated to farming, illustrating the transition from a feudal logic to a bourgeois and rural organization. These elements, combined with the remains of the ancient enclosure, provide a complete overview of the architectural and social evolution of the site.
Ranked Historic Monument by order of December 10, 2014, the Mieudry Fort House is fully protected, including the old cellars, the remains of the enclosure and the associated plot. This official recognition underlines its heritage importance, both for its state of conservation and for its representativeness of local historical dynamics. The site, although partially accessible, remains a valuable testimony to architectural transformations and lifestyles in Haute-Savoie.
The location of the strong house, at the approximate address of 908 Sales Road to Boussy, is documented with a priori satisfactory accuracy (level 6/10). This positioning, in a preserved rural setting, reinforces its emblematic character of a heritage that is both defensive, agricultural and residential, typical of the social changes between the Middle Ages and modern times.
