Origin and history
The Moulin de la Naze, located in Valmondois in Val-d'Oise, is an emblematic monument whose origins date back to at least the seventeenth century for its oldest part. Major constructions, however, date from the 4th quarter of the 18th century and the 1st quarter of the 19th century, reflecting the architectural and technical developments of these periods. This mill was entirely part of the estate of the princes of Conti, an influential aristocratic family of the Old Regime.
Machinery and the wheel, which are essential elements of its operation, have undergone subsequent changes, particularly in the twentieth century for the latter. The site was recognized for its heritage importance, as evidenced by its listing in the Inventory of Historic Monuments by order of 23 October 1987. This protection covers both the mill building and its machinery, highlighting its historical and technical role.
The mill is located at 15 rue Léon-Bernard in Valmondois, a commune in Val-d'Oise (Department 95) in the Île-de-France region. Although the information on its current accessibility (visits, rental, accommodation) is not specified in the sources, its status as a protected monument makes it a place of interest for the industrial and rural history of the region. The accuracy of its geographical location is estimated to be satisfactory a priori, thus facilitating its identification in the local landscape.
