Moulin de Lecé (Case BH 337): entry by order of 16 March 1976
Origin and history
Lecé Mill is an iconic building located in Chouzé-sur-Loire, in the Indre-et-Loire department (Centre-Val de Loire region). Built in the 17th century, it illustrates architecture and milling techniques of this period, still visible today. This monument, whose location is estimated as "passable" (note 5/10), was included in the inventory of Historic Monuments by order of 16 March 1976, under the cadastral reference BH 337.
In the 17th century, mills played a central role in the rural economy of the Loire Valley. They served not only to grind grain for local people, but also as places of exchange and sociability. The Lecé mill, by its inscription, bears witness to the importance attached to the preservation of this industrial heritage, although the available sources (such as Monumentum) do not detail its precise historical functioning or its possible owners.
The administrative coordinates of the site, recorded in the Mérimée base, place it at 6 Moulin de Lecé, with an Insee code (37074) confirming its connection to the commune of Chouzé-sur-Loire. No information is provided on its current accessibility (visits, rentals, accommodation), or on any tourist facilities. The associated photo, licensed under Creative Commons (Joël Thibault), suggests a documentary interest in this heritage.
