Origin and history
La Croix de Moustéru is a monument in the commune of Moustéru, in the Côtes-d'Armor department (22), in Brittany. Built during the 2nd quarter of the 18th century, it embodies the typical religious architecture of this period, marked by sober and symbolic achievements designed to mark the rural landscape of Brittany.
Classified as a Historical Monument by decree of 31 March 1926, this cross is part of the communal public domain. Its location, reported near the C.D. 54 and V.C. 5, reflects its integration into the local old network. Although its GPS location is considered "passable" (note 5/10), it remains an accessible heritage landmark, owned by the commune of Moustéru (code Insee 22156).
Crosses of this type often played a central role in the Breton community life of the 18th century. They served as gathering points for processions, collective prayers or public announcements. Their presence also marked parish boundaries or crossroads, combining religious, social and practical functions. The Mousteru Cross is part of this tradition, although the available sources do not specify its exact use.
