Origin and history

The Boissellerie de Bois-d'Amont Museum is a monument located in the municipality of the same name, Burgundy-Franche-Comté. This museum is dedicated to woodwork, a traditional craftsmanship linked to the manufacture of wooden objects, typical of this mountainous region of Jura. Although its exact period of creation is not specified, this type of establishment often reflects the importance of local expertise in rural communities.

In the Jura, and more widely in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, artisanal activities such as woodwork have played a central role in the economy and daily life of the inhabitants. Wooden objects, such as boxes, toys or utensils, were manufactured to meet local needs or to be marketed. These museums now preserve and transmit these ancestral techniques, while providing an overview of the region's cultural and artisanal heritage.
