Origin and history

The Musée de la Résistance en Combrailles, also known as Zone 13, is located in Saint-Gervais-d'Auvergne. This monument is specifically dedicated to the memory and history of the French Resistance during the Second World War, in an area marked by its active commitment to the occupation. Zone 13 is a geographical area of the Combrailles, a natural region between the mountains of the Central Massif.

During the war, this area was a high place of the Resistance, sheltering maquis and clandestine networks. The museum traces these events through archives, testimonies and period objects, providing insight into the crucial role played by local residents in the struggle for the liberation of France.
