Orléans Forest Trades and Legends Museum in Loury

    Place Antoine Masson
    45470 Loury

Origin and history

The Musée des métiers et des legends de la Forêt d'Orléans is located in Loury, a commune in the Centre-Val de Loire region. The aim of this museum is to preserve and transmit the know-how related to the forest trades, as well as the legends associated with them. It is part of a territory with a strong forest identity, where wood management and artisanal activities have played a central role in the local economy and culture.

Forests, like that of Orleans, have long been living and working spaces for the surrounding populations. Trades related to wood mining, hunting or the manufacture of handicrafts have shaped traditions and stories passed on from generation to generation. This museum thus offers testimony to the ancestral practices and popular beliefs that marked the history of this region.
